Natural Disasters

River Diving and Salvage Inc. supplied emergency pump crews around the clock to prevent many businesses from being flooded.

The Great Flood of 1993

The river height in St. Louis, Missouri was over 19.5 feet above flood stage.  Water from the flood covered over 17,000 square miles of normally dry land. This flood caused all sorts of unique situations for the city municipalities, many industrial plants, and river industry.

We made numerous dives inside plants to recover equipment and electric motors. They were serviced and ready to be installed for when the flood waters receded and plants where ready to go on with business.

Hurricane Katrina

On August 28th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of the United States with devastating effects.  Hurricane Katrina’s most devastating damage was south of New Orleans where the storm surge sunk numerous barges and boats.

River Diving and Salvage, Inc. mobilized and raised many barges to clear the river for normal navigation.

Hurricane Rita

After Hurricane Rita we refloated Harrah’s Casino complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Great Lake Storms

After devastating storms in the Great Lakes, River Diving and Salvage raised, surveyed barges and terminals for damage. We worked hand and hand with engineering firms for the most accurate and economical reports for our customers.

River Diving and Salvage has raised barges in Lake Michigan for US Steel that were sunk at their dock facilities, which was interrupting their loading/unloading operations.
